Glen Farms History
The Glen Farms Civic Association is a non-profit organization that promotes the general welfare and common interests of its members. Membership is voluntary. Neighbors from Glen Farms, Glen Westover, Glen Kyle, Tara neighborhoods, as well as homes on Little Egypt Road, participate in organization.
In Glen Farms and its surrounding neighborhoods you’ll find country-like homes found in a semi-rural setting of Cecil County, Maryland, two and one-half miles west of the city limits of Newark, and about nine miles from Elkton. Glen Farms was conceived and initially developed in the 1950’s by Dr. George E. Brinton, a French professor at the University of Delaware. Originally, the community comprised approximately 300 acres, with a winding system of roads providing access to the more than three hundred home sites. Stands of beech, oak and pine abound in the area. Ponds, lakes and gentle rising slopes cut by streams, among them the headwaters of the beautiful Christina Creek, add to the beauty of the site. Much has been done to preserve the natural setting, affording a serene and colorful atmosphere throughout the seasons. Homeowners can exercise on our recently resurfaced tennis court, fish or unwind at Lake George or get energized with a walk on our 4 miles of winding streets and rolling hills.
